About Empty Leg Index

The problem

Private jets fly empty roughly 40% of the time. When a jet drops off passengers in Miami and needs to return to New York, that return flight is called an “empty leg.” Operators would rather sell that seat at a steep discount than fly completely empty — but the deals are scattered across dozens of operator websites, marketplace platforms, and data feeds with no central source and no way to know if the price is actually good.

The result is a multi-billion-dollar market that's almost impossible for travelers to navigate efficiently. The best deals get booked within hours, and most people never even see them.

What we built

Empty Leg Index aggregates every empty leg listing we can find across the U.S. market, scores each one against estimated market rates, and delivers matched opportunities directly to you. We continuously scan 10+ data sources, so you see opportunities minutes after they're published — not days later.

Our proprietary market rating system compares each listing against the estimated cost of chartering the same aircraft on the same route, adjusted for seasonal demand and major events. When we say “Exceptional Value,” it means the flight is priced 60%+ below what you'd normally pay. That kind of context doesn't exist anywhere else.

What we are — and what we're not

We are an intelligence platform. We aggregate data, score deals, and deliver alerts. We are not a broker, marketplace, or travel agency. We never sell flights, handle bookings, or take a cut of the transaction. When you find an opportunity through us, you book directly with the charter operator.

Every feature we build is about one thing: getting you from Point A to Point B as intelligently and cost-effectively as possible using private aviation.

The Monthly Index Report

We're building the first comprehensive market report on U.S. empty leg pricing. Published monthly, the Empty Leg Index Report will cover pricing trends by aircraft category, corridor activity, seasonal patterns, and market analysis. It's the kind of data-driven intelligence that currently doesn't exist in private aviation — and we're making it available to our subscribers.

Who built this

Empty Leg Index was founded by a team that saw the same problem from both sides: buyers couldn't find good deals because the market was opaque, and operators couldn't fill repositioning legs because they had no visibility into buyer demand. We built the intelligence layer that connects both sides — without becoming a broker, without touching transactions, and without compromising the buyer's interest.

Our background spans aviation data, financial technology, and marketplace design. We're based in the U.S., funded independently, and focused on one thing: making private aviation pricing as transparent as every other major market.
